Decision making in an authentic environment

business game-business simulation

The ‘player’ takes on the role of the business owner, managing time and money to develop the business and resolve the issues that arise over the course of a game. The player makes decisions and receives all feedback from the software in monthly cycles.

Any number of decisions can be made each month in the four key business areas which include: Organisation; Sales & Marketing; Finance; and Operations. Based on these decisions the simulation responds each month and shows the number of enquiries, orders and sales generated - which determines the flow of money into the business.

Bridging the gap between theory and practice

SimVenture's business game is designed to respond to best practice principles. As such, players who research markets, competitors and customers carefully and then analyse data and take appropriate action in the rest of their business will always do better than those who use guesswork to drive decisions. The virtual company is managed on a month by month basis allowing the learner to develop their business from start-up for a maximum of 36 months.

When the Run Month’ button is clicked, the virtual environment responds to the decisions that have been made and feedback is provided in a variety of formats. This information can then be interpreted and analysed in order to plan decisions for subsequent months.
